ENSTONE-WILSON BILLIARDS PLATE

This tournament bears the name of club legend Dr. Gwilym Enstone who fostered interest in the great game of Billiards at the club, along with former Club-Captain and Billiards enthusiast Michael Wilson who captained the 2018 BUCS Snooker Champions! This inspiration has led to the club to enter a team in the local Leamington League which has led to three titles: The Morris Trophy (2016 and 2019) and Billiards League (2017). Famed Billiards players from WUSBC history have also obtained Billiard badges of honour in individual competitions. Stewart Ball won the Camkin Cup in 2015, and Michael Wilson followed by winning the Camkin Cup in 2018.

RULES:

There are three balls used in English Billiards: white cue ball, yellow cue ball and a red ball. The two players lag for the break and choice of cue ball. Points can be scored in three ways: two for a cannon (hitting both of the other two balls in a single shot), pot (three for the red, two for the opposite cue ball) and in-offs (three if you hit the red first and two if you hit the opposite cue ball first). For any foul (or miss) two penalty points are awarded to the other player. When a player's cue ball is not on the table, they play from the 'D' and must hit a cushion or ball outside of the baulk area before their cue ball can enter the baulk area. When the red ball is potted, it's put on the black spot. If it's potted twice in a row (off the spot) it's then placed on the blue spot. After that it returns to the black spot.
