Meet the Exec
Get to know the members behind running the club and what they do for you!

Max Faulkner
Club President
Hello! My name is Max and I’m your Club President for 2016-17 year! I’m a final year Maths & Physics student and my role is to manage the exec and ensure the club is running smoothly with a fun and relaxed atmosphere. I come from a little town called Fareham which is near Portsmouth on the south coast. In my spare time, I enjoy playing reverse side, bottling easy frame balls and revising the scripts from The Inbetweeners. I look forward to running the club with a keen and enthusiastic exec into what is hopefully another successful year!

Michael Wilson
Competitions Secretary
Hello! I’m Michael a second year Mathematics student and your competitions secretary for this year. I will run the weekly Wednesday sessions and the competitions (who would have guessed that?) which will take place throughout the year. I’m known mostly as the boring one at the club due to a combination of interesting (or as many people think: painful) safety play, lack of ability to pot (that’s generally agreed although some would say no ability to pot at all) and unbelievable stories (well story, the burger story). So if you ever need tips on how to be more boring, come to me, or if you have questions relating to my actual role, I can answer those too!

Bruno Sterner
Health & Safety Officer
Hello, my name is Bruno Sterner and am a 3rd year Mathematician. I started playing snooker when I joined university and distinctively remember the first time I went to play in which I couldn’t pot a single ball. I would like to say that I’ve improved since then, being a part of the 3rd team and enjoying success at BUCS last year. My role as Health and Safety Officer will ensure that members are aware of the dangers that could occur in the snooker room. On top of this, my presence in the Wednesday session will include the famous “1” call-out when someone pots a red and the not so famous “2” call-out when either 2 reds are potted or the yellow is potted. Also, I aim to impress with the Mark Williams “Under the Arm” shot which is surprisingly difficult. I hope to see you in the club.

Ed Butterfield
Equal Opportunities Officer
Hi I'm Ed, I'm a third year English Literature student and I'm this year's Equality Officer for Warwick Snooker Club. My role is to encourage inclusivity and participation in snooker across campus and to ensure that everyone who is a member of our club feels welcome, happy and respected by all. Feel free to contact me regarding any issues you may have as a member of the snooker club and I'll do my best to resolve them - although I wouldn't recommend coming to me for tips on how to improve your game!

Harrison Whitworth
Vice President
Hi there, I'm Harrison, a second year Politics and French student, and I'm the Vice President of the Club for this year, meaning I'm responsible for recording exec meetings, organisation of the club, as well as ensuring its general smooth-running. As a snooker player I'm known for potting long reds more often than blacks off the spot, and getting through frames without much thought of safety play. Off the baize, I'm a Newcastle United fan, so hopefully weekends this year will be more fun than last year! I'm also often heard telling fascinating facts about my home town of Portsmouth, so if you ever want to learn more about the home of the tallest building in the UK outside of London, you know who to ask!

Sam Matto-Willey
Club Captain
Good day, I’m Sam and I will be your Club Captain for 2016-17. I’ll be picking the teams for all our external comps this year and I hope to lead us to National glory at BUCS and Midlands next year! Originally from Sheffield (the spiritual home of Snooker) and a final year Economics Student, I hope to take my years of competitive experience and boring style of snooker into this new role. I certainly look forward to being part of this fantastic exec and contributing to another successful year at Warwick Snooker!

Ronan Love
League Organiser
Hello! I’m Ronan and I am your League Organiser for 2016/2017. I am a second year History student from Cambridge. The League Organiser role is fairly self-explanatory, I’m responsible for running the intra-university league! That means I’m the guy to contact for all matters league related. Although I have played pool regularly for almost all my life, I only started playing snooker regularly when I joined this club in the beginning of my first year. So, if you haven’t played much snooker like I hadn’t one year ago, I would still implore you to get involved as there’s plenty of opportunities to play at a decent level. Outside of snooker I’m an avid Arsenal supporter; so expect my weekly league e-mails to be upbeat at the beginning of the year and then utterly dejected in tone by the end of it. I’m mostly known for playing with a mighty, yet highly impractical, one-piece cue and settling for modest 20 breaks and then playing safe. I look forward to running the league this year!
